—— Detailed description ——
Some people are surprised that this „small car“ can contain all our home. Give me a few moments to convince you that it is really home.
the Car – engine and chassis
We have it for over a year, and besides one bad tire (everything to replace it in the car is – verified) and replacing the front bulb (can be replaced in a few minutes) we had never problem. We had about 20,000 kilometers with him, and they had to replace the filter oil twice (every 10,000 km) twice. The tachometer is currently 293km and the last WOF went without any trouble (we had to just clean the front lights :-)).
We made a small castling with the tires. After defecting one tire on the rear wheel, we bought one new pair and put it on the front axle. At the rear, the mechanic chose the two best (still about 40% of the remaining life) and one we had to leave in the workshop.
Silencers, suspensions, and such things underneath are undergoing a yearly Technical Inspection Inspection (WOF). According to the technician at the last WOF, everything is standard and was quite surprised at how good the car’s condition is. The car starts very well (the battery was changed during the reconstruction a year and a half ago). For all cases, there are hand-held starter cables (mainly used to help others).
Living room – front of the car
The steering is very lightweight thanks to the power steering. The maximum speed is 100 km/h at which the engine rotates at 2300 rpm, which gives a very pleasant consumption of around 8 liters per 100 km due to the 2.4-liter (2AZ-FE I4) gasoline engine. The gearbox is automatic, four-speed and has a slow-down or subtraction function (uses only one, two, or gears).
I use the cruise control almost and I can not imagine it without it. There are not so many villages here, so you are driving at the same speed between cities. Air condition is good, because if you’re driving on a dusty road (maybe two hours), it’s good to have the windows closed and the inside is hot. Reverse camera is a useful thing, not just in the car park, but even if you are on a narrow road you will meet the car and you have to turn off a nice piece (bridges are very often one-way). Electronic controlled of windows, electronic adjustable mirrors and central locking with two key sets is a standard that makes life easier for everyday life. If the car is locked, it will beep (you do not have to go back to the car if you are not sure if you are locked). If it fails to sound the door, it will beep 3 times, and it will be blinking for a minute, which is a good anti-burglary feature as well as a security alarm in case of violent intrusion.
Enjoy your favorite tunes from a radio that has a USB port (so songs on a fleece), you can connect it to your phone via the headphone jack or use Bluetooth connectivity and, in addition to music, you can navigate from the speakers. To make sure there is not enough, a radio is the radio that you can use to orchestrate this from the bed.
Between the front seats the 12V refrigerator fits in, so the chilled beer is still on hand (not while driving). In addition, there is a splitter (on a 12V socket), so you can also connect the mobile.
Bedroom / dining room – center of the car
This part of us has convinced us to buy a car. It is incredible how many things can be done with such a „small“ space. Rear seats are of course removed and the whole space is either a bedroom or a dining room.
Enlightenment is provided by four LED lights that are powerful enough to be read and, on the other hand, are user friendly. Darkness provides curtains in which the thermo foil is sewn so that light and heat pass through only a minimum. They are on both sides, in front, in the back, can be joined together and can also be attached to the surrounding walls.
It is also possible to use silver / black shading, which is on all windows, against the sun or at night against the passing lights. At night, we use net curtains that let you ventilate and mosquitoes and black flies do not get inside.
The layout is ensured by two plates that fit into the grooves to form a bed of approximately 190x150cm. The mattress is made by 5 cm high foam in cover. There is also a blanket, a large duvet (200x180cm, so the sleeping bag will only need to be shaken) and two pillows with a linen.
During the day, the interior can easily be transformed into a dining room, a table with three benches. Just move one board behind the front seats and raise the middle to the wooden leg. This creates a nice table that can be used outside. Believe it or not, we had a party in 4 people in the center of Auckland.
The storage areas are underneath each bench, the top of which swings to the hinges. Each one can hold one standard luggage, so we have each one of our clothes in a „wardrobe“.
Kitchen – the rear of the car
Good food is the basis of a good day and so I spend quite a bit of time in this kitchen. The large rear door protects against bad weather and can be cooked even in the rain. There is a built-in cabinet that holds a sink with a tap, a pump and a folding table. A two burner cooker on LPG bottle (2kg) is placed on it. There is a space with 2 x 30l water (fresh, waste), 5x shelf, cups, cutlery, kitchen knives, can opener and other things to eat and cook.
The dish is placed in a plastic basket on the left and includes: 2 pots, 2x pan, kettle, thermos, 2 plates and bowls, grater, breadboard, strainer and two cups.
The black cover is a toilet and a tent (120x120x190cm) which can be decomposed over it. The toilet is new, unused (there are public toilets in the NZ, it is mainly needed for certification).
Another 12V plug at the rear can be used for the 12V / 220V converter. It also includes a USB port (5V), so we charge the notebook and PowerBank simultaneously.
Garden – things around
—— What, when, and how ——
The car will be ready in September 2018 and its surroundings at a price of 6700NZD. It’s in a state of „jump and go“, so you do not have to worry about it. We can also offer a lot of advice on traveling, working and staying in the NZ (we are here for a long time). Helping to handle IRD numbers, setting up a bank account, picking up airport, etc., all on agreement.
We will be happy to answer any further information, either in comments, e-mail: kiwi@nechra.cz or on NZ by phone +64 211 728 525.
Thank you for your time.
Jakub
